How To Donate to those in Bahamas Devastated by Hurricane
There are many organizations that have setup ways to donate to those in need after this destructive Hurricane ravaged the Bahamas. Hurricane Dorian’s destructive path has left 17% of the population of the Bahamas homeless, and many have lost everything. This Hurricanes effects will be felt for years and years, please do what you can to try and support those devastated by this storm.
Below are a few of the organizations collecting donations. Please visit each site and donate to the organization or organizations you feel are the best fit for you to support. Any Questions please ask, thank you!

ASSOCIATION OF BAHAMAS MARINAS
The Association of Bahamas Marinas has started our own Hurricane Relief Fund. We are raising money for very specific needs – transportation and fuel. There are warehouses all throughout Nassau and SFL full of relief supplies with no way to get the items to the impacted islands. That is where we step in. We pledge that 100% of the funds raised will go directly to aid the relief efforts and then in Phase 2 with the rebuilding efforts. Call or email us with any questions.

CONVOY OF HOPE
Convoy of Hope was founded in 1994 by the Donaldson family. Their inspiration for starting the organization can be traced back to the many people who helped their family after their father, Harold, was killed by a drunk driver in 1969. Today, more than 115 million people have been served throughout the world by Convoy of Hope. We are proud that we work through churches, businesses, government agencies, and other nonprofits to provide help and hope to those who are impoverished, hungry, and hurting.
OUR MISSION
Convoy of Hope is a faith-based, nonprofit organization with a driving passion to feed the world through children’s feeding initiatives, community outreaches, and disaster response.
HOW WE DO IT
As a faith-based, international, humanitarian-relief organization strategically based in Springfield, Missouri — the crossroads of America — our goal is to bring help and hope to those who are impoverished, hungry and hurting.

West End, Grand Bahama Hurricane Recovery Fund
Old Bahama Bay will be the Command Center for all donated hurricane relief supplies in West End, Grand Bahama and is working in cooperation with the Bahamas Government, Local Authorities and NEMA-Bahamas (National Emergency Management Agency). Old Bahama Bay is the largest employer in the western district of Grand Bahama Island.
Hurricane Dorian pulverized the islands for two days, hurling catastrophic winds and relentless rain. It was the strongest storm ever to make landfall in the country.
“We are in the midst of one of the greatest national crises in our country’s history,” said Prime Minister Hubert Minis. “It is going to require a massive coordinated effort to rebuild.”
“Nothing compares to what we went through the past two days,” survivor Michael Hynes said. “Almost 48 hours now with nonstop carnage.”
Our goal is to raise One Million Dollars. “We exceeded our goal during Matthew which greatly helped rebuild the village of West End and we are hopeful we will exceed Hurricane Dorian’s goal as well since we now must aid not just West End, but all of Grand Bahama and Abaco as well,” said John MacDonald, HOA President, Old Bahama Bay Resort. “We are working in conjunction with Mike Schmidt’s Winners Circle Foundation in this effort. Mike has held fundraising tournaments out of OBB for the last ten years.”
From a CNN report: Swaths of Grand Bahama now look like ravaged wastelands. Injured residents can’t reach one hospital because it’s blocked by submerged cars.
Not only is the island’s airport ruined, a road leading up to it has been replaced by a river of floodwater. Between Grand Bahama and the Abaco Islands, about 60,000 people may be in dire need of food relief, the World Food Programme said.
Macdonald emphasized, “We are adamant that supplies will be received by those in need – not stolen or used by others to profit. We have created processes to roll out our recovery plans as efficient and methodical as humanly possible.”
The Red Cross says more than 13,000 homes – nearly half the number on those two islands – were damaged or destroyed.

Albury’s Sail Shop.
Having had the privilege of getting to know the Ladies of the sale shop over the years I have lived on Man O War Cay I am saddened to see that their building was destroyed by hurricane Dorian.
This fundraiser is to help raise money for Mrs Annie Albury and the ladies of the sail shop to rebuild or relocate and to purchase replacement equipment and supplies when they are ready. These funds could also be used by the sail shop to help cover lost wages as the rebuild gets underway. Mrs Annie’s grandson, Charles Bethel, is accepting the funds raised here on behalf of his grandmother and will make sure all funds reach Mrs Annie and the Ladies of the sail shop, including his fiance Amelia.
Man O War bags last a life time or two. If you already own one you treasure it as we also treasure the smiling faces of the Ladies that greeted us when we first walked in to the sail shop.
To everyone out there who proudly carries their Man O War bag on their travels, please consider donating here to support and resurrect this treasure on Man O War Cay. To anyone who doesn’t already have a Man O War bag – you need one! So let’s help get the sail shop back up and running to make sure these beautiful sturdy bags, and the smiles we receive when we go in to buy one, keep coming for generations to come.
The Sail Shop building has gone but many of the bags have survived and are hiding out in the bushes along the harbour. Man O War Bags – stronger than any hurricane! Thank you to all who have already supported this fund raiser. Please pass on the link to anyone you know who wants to help or has a Man O War Bag – $5 per bag would equate to a lot of encouragement and support heading to Mrs Annie and the Ladies. Your associated kind words are priceless. I will pass on all the notes of love, support and encouragement shown here along with the funds. Thank you. Photo credit to Lucas Albury – live from MOW. Thank you Lucas.

Hurricane Dorian Relief Update
West End, Grand Bahama Hurricane Recovery – Winner’s Circle Charities 501c3
Dear OBB Family and Friends,
Hurricane Dorian has finally started to turn north and is moving off the Island North Northwest at 2 mph. Dorian has been downgraded to a Cat 2 with winds recorded at 110 mph. Water remains our biggest issue at this point due to the storm surge in East Grand Bahama, Freeport, Eight Mile Rock and the Bootle Bay area and ending in West End with worse to least in the order outlined above. As stated prior OBB is as secure as she has ever been and our family of Staff are hunkered down, however, the storm surge has already completely submerged the marina and resort grounds.
As with Matthew, OBB will once again be the “Command Center” for all donated supplies. Our staff is well versed in this effort, as are our volunteers. We will work in close cooperation with the Bahamas Government, Local Authorities and
NEMA-Bahamas (National Emergency Management Agency).
While we know everyone will be anxious to help, we need to keep our efforts organized as Dorian will have caused enough chaos. Below is the information needed to make any humanitarian goods donations and/or financial donations.
Please understand that we have to consider liability. Old Bahama Bay and West End, Grand Bahama Hurricane Recovery – Waterfront Way Foundation 501c3 Recovery efforts are Autonomous, not working with anyone else and we are well organized.
We are waiting to get an all-clear word so that they are in a position to receive supplies. Part of this will be that staff is there, buildings are secure and that our security people are able to keep order.
We are adamant that supplies are received by those in need – not stolen or used by others to profit.
The Bahamas Governments has granted approval to bring in items with no VAT, DUTY or CUSTOMS/IMMIGRATION ENTRY FEES however, this is not a license to import goods in an effort to avoid vat and duty for personal use needs. We have an obligation to provide Customs and Immigration with detailed notification and itemization of when and what’s coming in.
We have medical staff and medical supplies coming to assist.
We have created these rules in and effort to roll out our recovery plans as efficient and methodical as humanly possible so that everyone’s efforts are not in vain.
We understand that it has been a long week of hurry up and wait and we are all anxious to get something done. We greatly appreciate your patience and will advise the second we believe it is safe to enter the resort property and we have our security team in place.
FINANCIAL DONATIONS: Yes we need money to aid in rebuilding. Our goal is $1Million Dollars. We exceeded our goal during Matthew which greatly helped rebuild the West End and we are hopeful we will exceed Hurricane Dorian’s goal as well since we now must aid not just West End, but all of Grand Bahama and Abaco as well.
