There are so many people who want to help those devastated by Hurricane Dorian but do not know what to do to help. Below is an ongoing list of places to drop off donations, send donations to, give money, and overall information to help those in need. Along with what to send / give, what to do, and what not to do is discussed. Any other information that anyone would like to add please send a message to the admins of this post at the CONTACT US link.
Thank you everyone for your thoughtfulness to help those in need after this terrible natural disaster in the Abaco Islands, Grand Bahama, and Northern Bahamas from Hurricane Dorian.
UPDATE: Please contact the drop off locations below before bringing donations there, as many places have stopped accepting them!
*** Many of the locations below have stopped accepting the donations as most of the people affected by Hurricane Dorian have been evacuated. So now the relief effort has shifted to donating money to help those who lost so much to get back on their feet and rebuild. Please contact the locations below to make sure they are still accepting donations. Thanks! And thank you for thinking of our neighbors to the East that were devastated by Hurricane Dorian!!! ***

Association of Bahamas Marinas – Notice from the ABM
We have been receiving reports of people from the US trying to boat to the Abacos to help with relief efforts. Under no circumstances should any private vessel try and reach the islands at this time. The current US and Bahamian government efforts are to get people OUT of the impacted areas of the Abacos and Grand Bahama. There is tons of debris floating and under the water, there is nowhere to tie up, there is are no warehousing facilities for goods delivered, roads on the islands are NOT passable and communications with the islands are still at a bare minimum.
We understand there is a strong desire to take action and help these communities and the offers of assistance and support have been overwhelming.
Our goal is to consolidate as many efforts under the smallest number of umbrella organizations as possible in order to increase buying power and decrease the number of vessels heading to the islands with supplies. Right now we are recommending funneling as much of the relief effort through the Bahamas Red Cross Society as possible. https://bahamasredcross.org
The Bahamas government has set up a website page as a resource center to help aide those in need. We will continue to update this page with the most relevant information needed so we can continue to provide the necessary assistance to persons and business who are willing to lend a helping hand.
Please check this page frequently while we review and approve a list of additional trusted partners.

Info from the Miami Billfish Tournament group helping organize aid collections
Miami Billfish Tournament is in communication with major shipping companies to transport these items. We will not be using any “private boat brigade”. Please purchase the requested supplies and take them to the aforementioned drop off points. If there is anyone else who can serve as a drop off point please comment here with your name, number and address.
We are also taking donations. You can use two methods to donate. You can use PayPal.com and note the Payee: miamibillfish@gmail.com. Please make your donation as friend to friend if possible.
If you prefer to mail a check; Make your check payable to The Miami Billfish Tournament and mail to; 1890 NE 150 St N. Miami, FL 33181.
The Miami Billfish Tournament has been used as a platform for donations in connection with many local conservation causes over the years. Please access this announcement on the Bug Light Shoal Artificial Reef Project to see reference to this donation platform in an established marine-related cause.https://www.facebook.com/groups/232549957391204/permalink/232557917390408?sfns=mo. If anyone has a question as to the legitimacy of this donation mechanism, feel free to contact us and I will provide you with references on local causes in which it has been used.
Thanks for any donations which you can provide and/or any help you can lend to the effort.
Other Info on what is going on in the Northern Bahamas, the Abaco Islands and Grand Bahama.
– ALL boats and Albury’s fleet of ferry’s have sunk…in Man O War.. No way for people to get from place to place/island to island.
– With the proliferation of pages and gofundme accounts popping up, we ALL need to ensure that our efforts and donations get to the people who ned it. Please be patient, do your research before you just blindly send donations out to anyone.
– USCG has been deployed to Abaco Islands with a mission of relocating as many people as possible to Nassau. The United States Coast Guard have been flying 3 helicopters non stop to every island and are sending 2 coast guard cutters so far and more on the way.
– Straight from the US Coast Guard: they have 3 helos in Marsh Harbour, 2 US Coast Guard ships in Marah Harbour, and various Bahamian authority vessels en route. To be rescued please call 1(305)415-6800. SPREAD THIS PLEASE!.
– Marsh Harbor airport is underwater so no planes can land on there. They can land at Sandy Point for now.
– A British Royal Navy auxiliary ship is set to arrive in the Bahamas to assist in recovery from Hurricane Dorian. The RFA Mounts Bay vessel was deployed to the region in June in anticipation of hurricane season, according to the British Ministry of Defense. The vessel is equipped with aid, specialist personnel, building materials, and a helicopter. According to CNN , the vessel was set to arrive in the area Monday.
Just some tips on donations-
Generally people do NOT need clothes- donation centers tend to get overwhelmed with them.
Here are some of the things that donation centers always run out of that you can start collecting.
-Baby supplies- diapers, formula, socks, creams- anything baby related
-Feminine products- pads & tampons- always running out.
-Hygiene products are always good- they don’t go bad and people always need them-
-Dish soap, any kind of home cleaning sprays, PAPER TOWELS
-Toilet paper!
-Foods that don’t perish or don’t need to be heated to eat
